Meet Vaughn

I was raised in Swanton, Vermont and attended MVU High School. After graduating from Kenyon College with a double major in International Studies and Chemistry, I returned to Vermont and began a 9-year career with an international testing and inspections company, utilizing both degrees. Together with my wife, we lived in England, Uzbekistan and Miami, before deciding to slow the pace and follow my dream of attending law school. I attended the University of Maryland School of Law and was an associate at McGuireWoods LLP in Baltimore. We continued to live in Maryland near my wife’s family for 10 years.

Eventually, the opportunity to have a law practice Vermont called, and I was ready to come home. Since 2012, I have had a private legal practice in Enosburg Falls focused primarily on real estate, estate planning, and probate. My wife and I live in Berkshire with our daughter and 3 dogs. Whenever I can find the time, I love gardening, fishing and hunting.

Professional Judicial Experience

  • Franklin County Probate Judge, 2019–2023

Why I’m Running

Franklin County needs the most experienced judge with the best understanding of probate law. In my private practice, I have had over 400 probate files since 2013, compared to under 15 for my opponent in the same time period. We have both been probate judge, but I will do the majority of my work from the court, not in the evening away from the staff. The probate court runs best when the whole team collaborates.
